A walk-around worth taking.
Check your owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s pre-ride inspection. Review tires, controls, brakes, fluids, lights, and visible fasteners. Resolve unfamiliar noises, damage, leaks, and warning lights before riding.
Know what fits.
Tire size, wheel diameter, load rating, clearance, and the manufacturer’s instructions all matter. The same model name can have different requirements across years and trims. A category match is not proof of compatibility.
Carry what you can use.
Choose recovery equipment and tools appropriate to your vehicle and terrain. Learn their proper use before you need them. Never exceed rated loads, and avoid improvised attachment points.
Plan the return.
Review access rules and weather, share your route, and allow extra daylight. Know your fuel range, bring water, and respect other trail users. Turn around before an uncertain situation becomes an emergency.
General preparation guidance only. Follow your equipment manufacturer’s instructions and seek qualified help for vehicle-specific or safety-critical decisions.
